A few months ago, a Ford commercial advertising the new 2018 Mustang featuring brand ambassador Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson may have inadvertently leaked a new 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt edition that's in the works. This would be the latest in a long line of special edition muscle cars that pay homage to the iconic Mustang 390 GT driven by Steve McQueen when he smoked the streets of San Francisco in Bullitt. Nothing was confirmed, however, as we only had blurry background sketches of a dark green Mustang to go by.

Since then, Mustang6G claims to have uncovered a leaked image of a window sticker suggesting that the 2018 Mustang Bullitt Edition is real. The image shows a window sticker for a Mustang called the '2018 Bullitt GT.' As the name implies, the new Bullitt Edition Mustang is based on the GT version packing a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. According to the window sticker, it will be offered in 'Highland Green Metallic' to distinguish it from standard models as a tribute to the original Bullitt Mustang which was finished in the same color. It will also feature Bullitt-style rear window louvers and a rear faux gas cap.

If the sketches in the original commercial are anything to go by, it will also come with dark two-tone wheels. Compared to a regular 2018 Mustang GT with a 10-speed automatic for $37,590, the new Bullitt Edition is considerably more expensive, as the window sticker lists the special edition with an MSRP of $56,080. You do get a host of extras that are usually optional for the standard car such as dual-zone climate control, selectable drive modes, and SYNC3. You're also paying a premium for a rare car will have a limited production run. Being based on the 2018 model Mustang, an official announcement of the new Mustang Bullitt Edition should be imminent.
