If you've had a look at the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, we think you'll agree that this is not an ugly car, not by any means. That said, we wouldn't call it classically beautiful either. Of course, every generation of Corvette can be beautified or made more ugly through new body kits, different wheels, or crazy color combinations, but there are some that should be left alone or only lightly tinkered with. We think the C3 Corvette falls into this category, and the body of the 1972 example you see below has been only carefully altered. Under the hood, however, it's a totally different story.
Listed on Bring a Trailer, the Corvette has been fully refurbished and now boasts a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 engine connected to a T56 six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the Dana 44 rear end. It also comes with an SRIII Motorsports Stage II frame painted gold, a Stage 1 Street ceramic clutch, power rack-and-pinion steering, and Wilwood disc brakes on each corner. MagnaFlow mufflers help keep the neighbors happy, while passengers will like the reupholstered seats finished in tan leather and suede. Other details to take in include AutoMeter American Muscle gauges, carbon fiber interior trim, a billet shifter from Bowler, and a Pioneer touchscreen head unit for the audio system. To keep occupants cool, the windows have been tinted while extra convenience comes courtesy of push-button ignition.
The previous owner also updated the badges with C7 units and obviously had the paint attended to as well, while exterior aesthetic touches include a front chin spoiler, a new hood and side skirts, wheel well trim with side marker lights, and a rear-exit exhaust, which is supposedly meant to make this look a little like a C7 model. The chrome bumpers were reworked too and were smoothed, shortened, and tucked. Other upgrades that the previous owner saw fit to add are removable roof panels and a removable rear window, along with satin black windshield trim. Finally, Forgeline RB3C wheels in 19-inch sizing have Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires mounted to them.
Sadly, the car's true mileage is unknown and it needs some TLC, but with the current highest bid at $38,000, this could still be a bit of a bargain. If you're interested, you have five days to place your bid.
