After a lengthy teaser campaign drip-feeding us some juicy specifications, the Lucid Airsedan has finally arrived to shake up the electric car industry. While the Air will take on the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan, we also learned this week that Lucid's second model will be an electric SUV - and it could be the biggest threat to the Tesla Model X yet.

Following this week's teaser on social media, Lucid has released some more revealing images of its new Tesla Model X. Details about Lucid's electric SUV are scarce as we don't even know the model name yet, but the proportions appear to be similar to the Model X.

From the teaser, Lucid's electric SUV sports the same advanced headlight system as the Air sedan that features thousands of light channels, as well as a full-width rear light bar. Flared fenders and a roof rack make the SUV look more rugged than the Air, while the sleek body features flush door handles. There's also a panoramic glass roof. Seating options haven't been confirmed, but judging from the SUV's size, we expect it will be offered with five seats as standard with the option to upgrade to seven seats.

Lucid's electric SUV will share the same platform as the Air, which accommodates two electric motors producing up to 1,080 horsepower. In its range-topping guise, the Lucid Air will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and do the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds. Despite this blistering performance, the Lucid Air's 113 kWh extended-range battery provides an EPA-rated range of 517 miles on a single charger.

Inevitably, the heavier SUV will be slower and less efficient than the Air sedan, but performance specifications have not been revealed yet. To compete with the Tesla Model X Performance, Lucid's SUV will need to complete the 0-60 mph sprint in less than 2.6 seconds and provide a range of over 300 miles. Production of Lucid's unnamed SUV is expected to start in early 2023.
