Last week's Detroit Auto Show seems like a distant memory now. The next event on the auto show calendar is of course Geneva, and automakers are wasting no time teasing what we can expect to see. While the all-new Mercedes G-Class was one of the star SUVs at Detroit, Land Rover has announced that a new coupe-style Range Rover will be shown off at Geneva. Dubbed the Range Rover SV Coupe, the latest addition to the Range Rover family will be built by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations as the "world's first full-size luxury SUV coupe."

Limited to 999 units, Land Rover says the Range Rover SV Coupe features "a seductive body design and a supremely refined interior." "The Range Rover SV Coupe is a highly compelling design with peerless refinement and uncompromised sophistication from its breathtaking exterior proportions to its sumptuous, beautifully appointed, interior," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer. "This is a vehicle that will resonate on an emotional level." The SV Coupe's body style harks back to the very first Range Rover, which debuted as a two-door coupe-style SUV in 1970. Land Rover hasn't released any images of the SV Coupe's exterior yet.

However, an image of the interior shows an opulent cabin with premium leather upholstery, wood trim, and a full-length center console. "Land Rover created the luxury SUV sector with Range Rover almost 50 years ago," said John Edwards, Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director. "In launching the new Range Rover SV Coupe, we will offer clients an alluring combination of peerless luxury and rarity. Unveiling this special vehicle at Geneva International Motor Show in March, during Land Rover's 70th Anniversary year, will be a defining moment for Land Rover, the Range Rover portfolio and Special Vehicle Operations."

Land Rover recently hinted at the possibility of introducing a two-door Range Rover coupe as a new limited production flagship model since it's a "natural progression" for Range Rover to "become even more tailored, bespoke, refined and luxurious." We'll find out how the Range Rover SV Coupe compares to the current flagship model, the swanky Range Rover SVAutobiography, when it makes its world premiere at Geneva on March 6.
