Things are starting to look up this year in the US. The COVID-19 vaccines are rolling out with gusto under the new administration, a new stimulus check is on its way, and you can get up to a $4,000 discount on a new Ford Mustang. It would appear that the discounts are available across the US, although they apply exclusively to 2020 model-year Mustangs as dealers look to clear space for the updated 2021 model. The discounts don't include the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models. However, they do appear to apply to every other model, including the now-discontinued Mustang Bullitt. However, the discounts do vary across the range.

On Ford's website, you need to selected the 2020 Mustang and scroll across the Retail Offers section to find the full $4,000 cashback on the Mustang EcoBoost Premium with 200A/201A equipment groups added. Lesser discounts include a $3,250 cashback discount on the standard Mustang EcoBoost Premium, $2,250 off of a Mustang GT, and $1,750 off of the Bullitt.

However, while these are the reported figures, through Ford's website we only see $2,000 cashback off the standard Mustang EcoBoost Premium from its MSRP of $33,525, and nothing on the GT and Bullitt models. Ford says to "See dealer for details," so you may need to go directly to a dealer to bag the extra discounts.

The usual disclaimers apply, and Ford says that buyers must "take delivery from an authorized Ford dealer's stock by March 31st, 2021, unless specified otherwise." Ford is also offering a zero-percent financing offer in "select markets" on top of the cashback offers.

For those who want to lease a base Mustang, Ford currently offers a Mustang EcoBoost at $289 per month for 36 months with $3,126 due at signing but is waiving the security deposit. Sensibly, that's not available with a manual transmission.

It's worth noting that the 2020 Mustang Bullitt and GT350 are being replaced by the 2021 Mustang Mach 1. Whether the Bullitt model will become a collector model in years to come is hard to say.
