Confirming what Head of Design for Maserati and Alfa Romeo, Marco Tencone, told us in Geneva this week, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) chief, Sergio Marchionne, revealed to Reuters that production of the Alfieri concept could begin within 28 months. The green-light for production will be based on whether there is enough demand, but so far the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

The platforms and motors are there," Marchionne said. "Technically, production could start in 24-28 months." The concept indicates where Maserati is going with its future styling language. Tencone admitted to us the Alfieri's front end is an area that will certainly be adopted by future models, while Marchionne said the two-door sports coupe is an "indication of things to come." In related news, Marchionne said production of the new Maserati Levante SUV bodies will begin at its Mirafiori plant in northern Italy in 2015.
