If there's ever been a company on the rise, it's Maserati. After years of trying to figure out what to do with it, Fiat is finally giving the Trident marque the funds it needs to fuel its expansion. In the coming years Maserati will launch the new Quattroporte, the Ghibli sedan to slot in below it and the Levante SUV... but what do we have here? Reports of yet another model in the works? No, we're not talking about the so-called GranSport, a rumored V8 version of the Alfa 4C. What we're dealing with here is a new coupe based on the GranTurismo.

According to an unnamed sourced inside the company cited by Holland's AutoWeek magazine, Maserati is preparing a new "sports car above the GranTurismo". Rather than giving the existing GT another version to supplant the base, S, Sport, MC and various convertible versions, the new sportscar will reportedly feature all-new bodywork and a more potent engine. For that bit we might be looking at the new twin-turbo V8 developed for the new Quattroporte. Beyond that, we know nothing at this point, but we'll definitely be watching the wires for more news on this particular project.
