And it will be reaching American dealers soon.
If you're shelling out the kind of money it takes to buy a fancy set of wheels like, say, a Maserati, you're probably going to want to get it made to your particular tastes. And the Italian automaker is only too glad to oblige.
At the Geneva Motor Show last month, the Trident marque rolled out its new One of One program that allows customers to specify their vehicles just as they want them. The program launched with a custom Levante crafted for a winemaker, and now it's delivering the next examples.
An individualized Levante GTS will be delivered today at the New York Auto Show to an unnamed celebrity – as if it weren't special enough already. Slotting just below the hardcore flagship Levante Trofeo, the GTS packs a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 good for 542 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, representing a definite step up from the Levante S that previously topped the line. And the added muscle pays off: it takes just 4.2 seconds to reach 62 miles per hour – a full second quicker than the Levante S, and only 0.3 seconds behind the Trofeo.
On the other side of the world, Maserati delivered another One of One model – based on the Quattroporte GranLusso – to one Xuan Feng, editor in chief of T-Magazine China, at the Shanghai Auto Show. Feng ordered his in a special shade of light blue with opaque trim and two-tone white and black Pieno Fiore leather interior with pinstripes died in oak casks, burl wood trim and indigo stitching to carry the denim theme inside.
Maserati will be rolling out the program to North American dealers "in the near future," so you'll be able to order one to your specifications soon.
