To try and boost sales of its first ever SUV, Maserati is launching a new stylish special edition version of the Levante dubbed the Vulcano. Production will be limited to just 150 examples in Europe and Asia.

Distinguishing the Maserati Levante Vulcano is an exclusive matte "Grigio Lava" finish and a Nerissimo style pack, which adds several black exterior accents including dark rear light clusters, black chrome front grille and logos, glossy black window surrounds, body-colored door handles and burnished exhaust tailpipes.

The luxurious Italian SUV also rides on 21-inch wheels featuring a matte finish, five-spoke design, and red brake calipers. Rear privacy glass rounds out the exterior upgrades.

Inside, the new Levante Vulcano comes equipped with heated, ventilated full-grain leather seats that are electrically adjustable and come with a contrasting embroidered Trident logo on the headrest. The seats can be ordered in black with red contrasting stitching or red with black contrasting stitching. According to Maserati, this represents the model's "volcanic personality."

Elsewhere, high gloss carbon fiber has been applied to the interior trim, as well as the gearshift paddles, the insert on the electrically adjustable sport steering wheel, and the chromed aluminium badge on the central tunnel, which features the new Vulcano logo and a plaque with the words "one of 150" to signify its exclusivity.

Other standard equipment includes a Bowers&Wilkins premium sound system, a soft close door closure system, front and rear parking sensors, and full-LED Matrix adaptive headlights.

Power is provided by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 gasoline engine with either 350 or 430 hp on tap. In the UK, the 350-hp variant starts at £85,425 ($110,343), while the 430-hp version starts at £93,000 ($120,127).
