It's so fast who cares what it looks like.
Like it or not, the Panamera has been a phenomenal success for Porsche. It may have a polarizing if not downright butt ugly exterior design, but those with the cash to spare love them although it nearly sent countless Porsche purists to their graves in tears upon its launch in 2009. But damn, the thing is fast especially when it's the Turbo S. In this episode of "The Smoking Tire", host Matt Farah takes the wheel of a 2012 Panamera Turbo S on a road trip to Yosemite National Park.
Even better, he takes it to the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed where he can drive as fast as he wants. Sure, its appearance can be compared to that of a beached whale, but with 550hp coming from its turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 and a supposed top speed of 190 mph, we're willing to forgive its physical traits.
