New SkyActiv diesel engine to join concept at Geneva.
With this tightly cropped teaser image, Mazda has announced it is coming to Geneva with a new concept that previews the design of the third-gen Mazda2. The Hazumi concept is named after the Japanese word meaning “to bound or spring up” and is said to convey “the image of an untamed animal leaping.” Following the CX-5, Mazda 6 and Mazda 3, the carmaker's Kodo design language has clearly been adopted by the new 2 city car.
The next-gen model will enter production later this year riding on Mazda's SkyActiv modular architecture. Mazda is also bringing a new 1.5-liter SkyActiv-D clean diesel engine to the Swiss expo that will eventually make its way under the hood of the Mazda2 and the automaker's upcoming CX-3 subcompact SUV.
