Mazda is Updating the CX-5 But All We Want is the New MX-5

Spy Shots / Comments

Compact crossover or the iconic roadster? Of course the new MX-5 deserves all the hype.

The Mazda CX-5 was only launched in 2012 and already it's up for a refresh. Our spy photographers have just sent us this latest crop of pictures showcasing a CX-5 test mule. Specifically, we can see a new grille and headlights, the latter featuring integrated DRLs and indicators in the side mirrors. Out back there's a new graphic in the rear lights. That all sounds nice but, honestly, we really don't care.

The CX-5 is a great crossover, but what we really want to see is the all-new 2016 MX-5. A teaser image was just released ahead of the online debut on September 3. But back to the CX-5: the facelifted model will likely have its debut sometime next year, and arrive as a 2016 model.
