Beats the fleet and gets shipped to service at Laguna Seca.
Afew months back, we showed you Mazda's upcoming MX-5 Cup racecar, based on thefourth-generation MX-5 and equipped with a treatment that would make it feelright at home on the track. But before the fleet of racers heads to the GlobalMX-5 championship for its debut race, one special example has been given aunique job: serving as the new pace car at the Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway. Inaddition to the racing buckets and roll cage, the pace car has been dressed ina special livery by Sticky Fingers design and equipped with emergency lighting.
Likethe Global Cup racers, this pace car should enjoy additional modifications likeenhanced wheel arches, aero tweaks and a lowered ride height. So far, Mazda hasonly released a single image of the pace car, but we expect it to be as awesomeas the rest of the cars in the MX-5 Cup:
