Mazda is busy prepping their new MX-5 Miata roadster for release in the next two years, however they weren't busy enough to give the current generation roadster a refresh for the 2013 model year. Leaked from a Japanese brochure are the first photos of the iconic model's facelift, and it has a few aesthetically pleasing tweaks. Most noticeable from these photos is the MX-5's new front end, complete with a new bumper and redesigned foglights.

Remodeled 17-inch wheels and new colors give the veteran roadster a new feel, sure to keep enthusiasts of the little roadster interested until the new generation makes its way off the manufacturer's line. The brochure mentions that the 2013 Mazda MX-5 carries the codename NC3 and that it utilizes an "active-hood" which pops up. The reason for the new hood is to meet safety standards and reduce the amount of injury in automobile-pedestrian collisions. Keep an eye out for the official release of the 2013 Mazda MX-5 later this month.
