It's been three years since McLaren started its local operations in China, and to celebrate that milestone the manufacturer is launching a special 'Commemorative Edition' of the practical 570GT Sport Series exclusively for the Chinese market. Presented in the GT's original Pacific Blue, the McLaren 570GT Commemorative Edition will be limited to just three examples. Inside, the limited 570GT features a Jet Black and Areia (a posh word for 'cream') cabin wrapped in Nappa leather.

The luxury material has also been applied to the luggage area, along with the carbon black steering wheel with matching seatbelts to contrast with the light leather and complement the Jet Black fascia and door trim. Elsewhere, McLaren Special Operations bespoke division has crafted carbon fiber components including a rear bumper and wing, door skirt and front splitter and blade. Other exclusive features include a Bowers & Wilkins 12 Speaker audio system, a nose lift and a rear-view camera which don't come with the 570GT as standard. The McLaren 570GT Commemorative Edition will be on display at the Shanghai Auto Show between April 19 and 28.

Joining it will be the Chinese debut of the 720S Super Series which recently started mass production, signalling the start of the second-generation Super Series. "McLaren has enjoyed three years of success in China and we are delighted to be premiering the new 720S at Auto Shanghai 2017 as we look forward to further growth in this market," commented Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive. "Customer interest in McLaren cars continues to increase rapidly and we are pleased to recognise this not only by introducing the second generation of McLaren's Super Series product family, but also a 570GT Commemorative Edition for China."

To mark its debut, the 720S will be displayed in its Performance specification, finished in a previously unseen Saros exterior paint color combined with a Jet Black/Xenon Yellow leather interior. The carbon fiber Monocage II structure will also be visible, as well as a carbon fiber roof panel, rear bumper, door sills, hood inlets, mirror casings, rear fender air intakes and front splitter. McLaren China will be taking orders for the 720S at the show, with deliveries scheduled to commence in July.
