Spicing up your 720S just got a lot prettier.
The McLaren 720S is not the sort of car that you use if you're looking to be stealthy. It draws attention everywhere it goes and is arguably one of the best-looking McLarens ever made. But sometimes, the opposite of a stealthy look can be just as good, and that's where McLaren Special Operations comes in. Following on from a renewed partnership with Gulf last year, McLaren revealed what the McLaren Elva looks like in the classic Gulf colors, and now you can have your 720S subjected to the same stunning treatment. Act quickly though - this is an "opportunity for [a] limited number of customers."
As you'd expect from a company producing high-end sports cars, this more than just a sticker kit. The example you see before you in these photographs took a total of 20 days to complete after McLaren trialed several iterations of the various blue and orange shades until the right finish could be achieved - and it was painted by hand. In addition to the iconic paint scheme on the body, the key shells are painted to match and the brake calipers are painted in the Gulf solid orange shade, while the carbon fiber wheels feature Gulf's solid blue on the spokes.
Inside, the seats feature an embroidered Gulf logo on the headrests, along with blue and orange contrast stitching that is mirrored throughout the cabin. The sills also feature the Gulf logo, and the end result is attention-seeking without being tacky.
Mike Flewitt, McLaren Automotive CEO, says, "This project is a showcase of MSO's capabilities and echoes the recent full restoration of the McLaren F1 GTR 25R, a car raced in the 1990s. The 720S in such an evocative livery and interior finish, created in close association with Gulf, which perfectly shows the potential for our customers to work with MSO's skilled team to personalize their McLaren." So even if you don't like blue and orange, MSO will gladly finish your McLaren in whatever crazy scheme takes your fancy.
