Here are three of the millions of combinations possible for Woking's latest.
In a perfect world, maybe we'd all be driving exotic supercars. But then again, we suppose they wouldn't be "exotic" then, would they? The unfortunate reality is that most of us will never drive one – let alone own one, and enjoy the process of ordering it just the way we want.
We can certainly dream, though. And that's where online configurators come in. Like this one just launched for the McLaren 720S Spider – the latest roadster to come rolling out of the spaceship-like facility on the outskirts of the English town of Woking.
Following the 12C and 650S, the 720S sits at the heart of McLaren's Super Series – above the 570S and its derivatives in the Sports Series, but below Ultimate Series models like the Senna and Speedtail. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is mounted in the middle of a carbon-fiber monocoque, dispatching 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to help it hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and top out at 212 mph.
The Spider version just released makes it that much more tempting, offering the best-of-both-worlds proposition with the hardtop up or down.
And as you might expect of this anything-but-mass-market exotic, it offers a wide range of customization options. There are 37 exterior colors on offer, four wheel options (each in two or three different finishes), seven brake-caliper colors, and an extensive array of exterior and interior options to set it up just the way you want.
All told, there are millions of combinations possible – of which we've put together just three (one each in the standard, luxury, and performance specifications). Head on down to your local dealer (with $315k on hand) and you can configure yours in 4K 3D.
