Novitec has taken the Mclaren 720S Spider to new heights.
With its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 generating 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, the McLaren 720S Spider is far from underpowered. In fact, it's one of the most powerful convertibles on the planet. But that hasn't stopped Novitec from giving it a monster upgrade. The tuner has already taken the McLaren 720S to new extremes, so it was only a matter of time before its Spider sibling also received the Novitec treatment. And it doesn't disappoint.
Novitec is offering three tuning packages for the McLaren 720S Spider, the most powerful of which increases the output to an impressive 806 hp and 647 lb-ft of torque, up by 83 hp and 79 lb-ft. This power boost was achieved by a retuned ECU that adjusts the injection, ignition and boost pressure control, resulting in improved acceleration and throttle response.
As a result of these modifications, Novitec's McLaren 720S Spider will hit 62 mph from a standstill in just 2.7 seconds and 124 mph in just 7.5 seconds. Top speed has also increased from 212 mph to 214 mph. A high-performance exhaust available with a polished stainless or matte black finish also gives the V8 engine a more menacing soundtrack and can be ordered with or without actively controlled exhaust flaps.
To complement its increased performance, Novitec has enhanced the McLaren 720S Spider's exterior with a new front spoiler, front blade, and side flaps, which reduces front-axle lift at high speeds. The headlamps, trunk lid, and side mirrors also get forged carbon housings, while carbon rocker panels fitted to the sides give the car a meaner look.
Elsewhere, Novitec has added new covers for the side intakes that improve airflow and a massive rear wing that increases downforce. Alternatively, an understated rear spoiler lip is available if a rear wing is too racy for your tastes. Other changes applied to the rear include a forged carbon rear fascia, diffuser and diffuser fins, and carbon side panels.
Rounding off the visual changes are lightweight, double seven-spoke Vossen wheels that measure 20-inches at the front and 21-inches at the rear and are available with a choice 72 different colors and brushed or polished surfaces. Alternatively, Novitec is also offering MC1 forged alloy wheels featuring five pairs of spokes.
Inside, the 720S Spider can be extensively customized with the finest leather and Alcantara materials available with a wide choice of color options. Pricing for Novitec's tuning packages hasn't been announced, but a stock McLaren 720S Spider will set you back at least $306,000.
