Only one model has been made yet it's already a hit.
The automotive world is full of hyperbole. We often declare cars hits without actually driving them or seeing sales reports. That being said we can safely call the McLaren 570S a winner, as our own Adam Lynton gave it a glowing review after spending a weekend at the wheel. It can also be called a sales success, as the first example has just rolled out, and McLaren reports that another 1,000 orders are yet to be fulfilled. Yes, only one example has been built (and not even delivered) yet 1,000 people want one.
The 570S is the lead dog in McLaren’s new Sport Series and will soon be joined by the 540C, followed by a new, undisclosed, body style in 2016, and a Spider in 2017. The 570S Coupe is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine good for 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It hits 62 mph from go in just 3.2 seconds and tops out at 204 mph. It starts at $184,900 which makes it decently affordable as far as supercars go. With all that in mind it’s not tough to see how the 570S is already a sales hit. America unfortunately won’t see the 540C, which means we’ll just have to hope a ton of Americans order the 570S. More McLarens on the road is never a bad thing.
