Standing out against the expensive exotica on display this week's prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance isn't easy. Unless you're McLaren, that is. The British automaker has just revealed a striking 720S designed by McLaren's Special Operations customization division commissioned by a customer with a very acquired taste. The one-off 720S was created for US entrepreneur, philanthropist and car enthusiast Michael Fux, who spec'd their car in an eye-catching purple paint finish.
The distinctive 'Fux Fuchsia' hue was named after the entrepreneur and was originally created by Rolls-Royce before being redeveloped by MSO. Fuchsia coloring has also been applied to the lightweight wheels, as well as inside the doors, the rear-view mirror and as a pinstripe on the steering wheel. White otherwise dominates the interior, from the headlining, floor mats and cup holder, to the leather and stitching. Completing the look are exhaust and window surrounds with a Stealth grey finish and additional carbon fiber components. Fux has a collection of around 130 luxury and supercars, many finished in unique and unusual colors like his 720S.

"MSO provides McLaren owners with virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and tastes; unique paint colors and finishes, custom leather and stitching and exotic materials are all available within a bespoke commission, while beyond this there are opportunities all the way up to complete vehicles designed to individual specification."
No mechanical changes have been applied to the one-off 720S, meaning it's powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 sending 710 horses to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. McLaren may have even been sandbagging the 720S' performance according to a recent dyno run. The unique 720S was presented to Fux by McLaren Automotive boss Mike Flewitt at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey. The car will then land on the 'Concept Lawn' where it will be displayed at the Concours on Sunday. McLaren didn't mention how much Fux's one-off 720S is worth, but you can bet he paid substantially more than the top Luxury trim which costs over $280,000.
