Already the most hardcore Sports Series model McLaren has made to date, you'd think it'd be pretty hard to improve on the 600LT. But McLaren Special Operations is not known for leaving well enough alone, so it customized the one-off special edition you see here.

One of the last 600LT coupes to leave the McLaren Production Centre, this hardcore "junior" supercar features a carbon-fiber roof, complete with a bespoke air scoop. And there's a long list of other carbon-fiber components besides, from the cantrails on the outside to the the racing buckets within.

In fact MSO fitted two complete carbon-fiber upgrade packs to the exterior, and another inside – along with the MSO Clubsport Pro pack, 10-spoke ultra-lightweight alloys with titanium wheel bolts, orange brake calipers, six-point racing harnesses... the works, in short. Inside the pedals and headrests are emblazoned with 600LT lettering, and the seats have been stitched in orange to match the 12 o'clock mark on the Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.

And it wasn't created just for fun, either. This car is the 1,000th to be sold by McLaren London, the brand's first dealer.

Though one of the last 600LT coupes to be made, there are still a handful of 600LT Spiders up for grabs – so you haven't missed your opportunity just yet.

"The limited-volume 600LT Coupé is another milestone in the continuing development of the McLaren 'Longtail' sub-brand established in 2015 with the 675LT models," said European managing director David Gilbert. "The fact that this Coupé – a unique, MSO-enhanced car – is also the celebration of the 1000th car to be sold by our first-ever retailer, McLaren London, makes this even more of a landmark moment."
