McLaren Has A New Reason To Celebrate

An impressive milestone has been set in an important country.

2020 was a very challenging year for McLaren. While new model debuts like the formidable 765LT made Ferrari take notice, the company is facing financial hardship and the pandemic has forced to delay its future expansion plans by two years. In Canada, however, McLaren has cause for celebration.

Since the automaker opened its doors in the country back in 2012, McLaren has sold 1,000 new retail cars in Canada. McLaren's 1,000th Canadian car is a 2020 McLaren 720S finished in a stealthy Onyx Black finish. Coincidentally, this mirrors the first-ever McLaren delivered in Canada, which was a black 201 2McLaren 12C. Both cars were delivered from the McLaren Toronto dealership.

From 2013 to 2019, McLaren's sales in Canada have consistently grown thanks to new model launches and additional dealers set up in Vancouver and Montreal. Toronto-based Pfaff Automotive Partners serves as the brand's importer and also owns the Toronto and Vancouver retail locations

"The 1,000th new car delivery was a wonderfully positive end-point to a challenging year in 2020," said Christopher Pfaff, President & CEO of Pfaff Automotive Partners. "We are so happy to be associated with the McLaren brand and its people. Across our company, we are all passionate motorsports enthusiasts, and love what the McLaren brand stands for - a commitment to industry-leading technology, high performance, and constant innovation. Moreover, as a manufacturer, they are open, transparent, and fast-moving."

"Pfaff Automotive has been a partner of McLaren in Canada since McLaren Automotive started its operations. They are more than just a retailer - they are true enthusiasts - which shows through their excellent sales performance and commitment to customer service, that has seen them win our Global Retailer Year of the Year award in the past," said Tony Joseph, President of McLaren Americas. "We look forward to many more years of success together as we start our second decade in the marketplace."

Starting at $299,000, the McLaren 720S is still one of the best modern supercars on the market. McLaren's sublime Super Series model is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this setup enables the 720S to rocket from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and max out at 212 mph.
