According to McLaren, the P1’s awesome performance capabilities are a result of its cutting-edge aerodynamics. We suspect its 900-hp powertrain might help a bit too.
Although the McLaren P1 combines a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor to produce more than 900 horsepower, the British supercar maker wants the world to know that the key to the performance of its flagship is aerodynamics. As such, it is embarking on a two-part series to tell the story behind the design of the hypercar. “Designed by Air” previews the series, which will demonstrate how the car was crafted by airflow and conclude with the P1 in the wind tunnel, highlighting its state-of-the art aerodynamics.
The series will also detail the P1's finely honed aerodynamic features cloaking the carbon-fiber chassis, and reveal an interactive 3D model of the supercar.
