Short-run Ferrari 458 Speciale rival will offer glimpse of next-gen 12C’s styling.
McLaren has teased a solitary image of its third supercar ahead of its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the 650S, the new model is believed to be a short-run model based on the 12C with enhanced styling based on the P1 and a 650-horsepower variant of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8. The new model is touted as a Ferrari 458 Speciale rival offering “the enthusiast driver the ultimate in luxury, engagement and excitement, as well as dramatic yet beautiful styling.”
Sources close to the British carmaker claim a 12C replacement will be shown later this year and will be strongly influenced by the 650S. As anticipated, McLaren’s portfolio continues to swell, with an entry-level Porsche 911 fighter codenamed the P13, and a new supercar to slot between the 12C and P1, dubbed the P15, both currently in the works.
