In order to keep their current crop of clients happy and to further cement they position as one of the leading supercar makers in the world, McLaren is preparing a raft of changes to the MP4-12C that includes a modest boost of power. Reacting to customer feedback, the British supercar maker has already made some small tweaks to improve the driving experience including adding lighter paddle shifters, better steering feel and improved engine note.

A software overhaul also removed some bugs and annoyances such as the warning lights that seemed to have a mind of their own. McLaren has now decided it's time for an additional upgrade, and from this October, the MP4-12C will get an additional 25hp, taking total output to 616hp, as well as a programmable engine note, improvements to the Meridian sound system, and remote opening of the passenger door. Of the upgrades that will be made to existing owners free of charge, McLaren MD, Anthony Sheriff said in a letter to owners: "the power output of your 12C will increase by 25 PS to a class-leading 625 PS.

"Our development team has re-engineered the mapping of the 12C engine to give your car a performance upgrade with significantly improved responsiveness. The 12C's remarkable CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency figures are unchanged."
