The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race cars are ready to race across Europe in the FIA GT1 World Championship. 25 cars have been built specially for the 2012 racing series and it will make its debut at Nogaro on April 8th. 10 further models will compete in the Blancpain Endurance Series which begins in Monza later next month. McLaren's first racer to compete outside of the Formula 1 series since the McLaren F1 GTR has been tested to the tune of over 35,000 miles.

The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 utilizes a V8 twin-turbo McLaren M838T engine with outputs that vary due to the varying rules and regulations of each series. They expect it to do big things in world racing over the course of the next year.

It boasts its road-going persona's MonoCell chassis and an aerodynamic package developed by McLaren GT, specialist engineers and designers at McLaren Automotive. "In one year, McLaren GT has taken the 12C GT3 from concept to race readiness. We will learn more about the car in the early part of the season - and expectations will naturally be high of a car full of Formula 1 technology - but our objective is to makes the 12C GT3 as much a pleasure to own and run as it is race," said Andrew Kirkaldy, Project Manager for McLaren GT.
