Following the coupe’s leak last month, both models officially unveiled in Switzerland.
While McLaren’s 650S coupe was leaked last month andexpected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, attendees of the Swiss auto salonwere shocked to discover its convertible brother right alongside it. Thestunning 650S Spider - which was presented in a new version of McLaren’s signatureorange - is equipped with the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8, making a matching641 horsepower and identical 0-62mph times - 3.0-seconds – as the coupe.
Weighing in at just 88 lbs more than the coupe, the Spider’sroof drops in 17 seconds and can be retracted or closed at speeds of up to19mph. Like the coupe, the 650S Spider takes many design cues from the company’sP1 supercar – including its signature LED headlights. The company has yet torelease pricing, but the coupe and convertible should fit in snugly between theP1 and 12C.
