Following the coupe’s leak last month, both models officially unveiled in Switzerland.
While McLaren’s 650S coupe was leaked last month and expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, attendees of the Swiss auto salon were shocked to discover its convertible brother right alongside it. The stunning 650S Spider - which was presented in a new version of McLaren’s signature orange - is equipped with the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8, making a matching 641 horsepower and identical 0-62mph times - 3.0-seconds – as the coupe.
Weighing in at just 88 lbs more than the coupe, the Spider’s roof drops in 17 seconds and can be retracted or closed at speeds of up to 19mph. Like the coupe, the 650S Spider takes many design cues from the company’s P1 supercar – including its signature LED headlights. The company has yet to release pricing, but the coupe and convertible should fit in snugly between the P1 and 12C.
