When you pay $229,000 or more for a car, you generally want it to work the way it's supposed to. For this reason, when McLaren heard that a few of the 59 copies of the MP4-12C which have been delivered so far have had some quality issues, they decided to slow production to address the issues. Not all of the owners of these cars have reported problems, but those who have reported condensation in the headlamps, dead batteries and problems with door operation.

For the existing cars with problems, McLaren will be dispatching specialist repair staff out to repair the problems. All of the cars delivered thus far have gone to Europe, but 179 will be finding their way to the US. McLaren insists that these cars will still be delivered in the time frame originally quoted, even with the production slowdown. Photos displayed are of the 2011 McLaren MP4-12C.
