It's powerful, light, fast, but doesn't do 0-60 mph unless its inside your car.
When you get into the upper-echelons of car brands, accessories are both a cash-cow (looking at you Ferrari) and a way of cementing a relationship with customers. When it comes to McLaren, pairing up with a company for a special edition of its updated smartphone makes sense. McLaren likes to live on the cutting edge, and you know a cell phone is on the cutting edge when it's specs include a lot of numbers matched to initials and trademarks. In this case, we're looking at the new OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition with 256 GB of storage, 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, and using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus Mobile Platform.
This is actually the second collaboration between the British supercar maker and Chinese cellphone maker OnePlus, following the "Salute to Speed" McLaren Edition in 2018 of the OnePlus 6T. In this case, the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition comes with a "stylish application of the iconic McLaren papaya orange" to the aesthetic and the outer casing is trimmed out in Alcantara, just like a race car.
The phone's software has also been tailored for McLaren with a minimalist clock display that's "inspired by McLaren's timeless dashboard instrumentation." The cellphone also uses custom-made icons and software animations that will remain unique to the special edition.
As you would expect from a cellphone McLaren is happy to put its name to, the OnePlus 7T is a gorgeous piece of kit. It has a 6.67-inch, 500 pixels per inch, AMOLED display with curved edges and runs at a 90Hz refresh rate for snappy and fluid animations. It's also loaded with the latest Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm and a lot of RAM, which makes it a seriously fast phone. It also has a high-level camera system capable of super slow-mo video ideal for capturing you nailing that corner just right in your McLaren 720S.
