On the eve of the 2018 New York International Auto Show, Ram has unveiled the 2019 Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition in order to commemorate the 144th running of the iconic horse race on May 5th. The truck is fittingly based on the 1500's top-shelf Limited trim and gains distinctive Kentucky Derby "Run for the Roses" graphics on the rear flanks. The special-edition is long overdue considering this is Ram's ninth year acting as the official truck of Churchill Downs.

The 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition includes Ram's Tesla-esque Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen radio with Sirius XM 360L and navigation, plus four-corner auto-leveling air suspension, power-retracting running boards, trailer hitch with sway control, blind spot monitoring, and automatic trailer detection. Inside, the Kentucky Derby Edition also includes premium heated and ventilated full-leather front and rear reclining seats plus genuine wood and metal trim. "The Kentucky Derby has long been among America's most cherished sporting events," said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand.

"The close ties between Ram trucks and the equine community have led us to the introduction of the 2019 Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition," Manley continued. "The Ram 1500 is a no-compromise truck that delivers capability, durability, technology and safety and is well-suited to meet the needs of all kinds of owners, including those who love horses." Ram has also chosen to use the launch of the Kentucky Derby Edition to introduce a new Ivory WhiteTri Coatpaint, the package will be available in five addition exterior shades: Delmonico Red, Diamond Black Crystal, Granite Crystal, Max Steel or Patriot Blue.

Interested shoppers will be able to choose from 4x2 or 4x4 Crew Cab configurations, with a 5 ft.-7 in. bed length. Base pricing starts at $53,190 plus destination, but you better act fast because the company is planning to offer just 2,000 units.
