For most people, the potent power extracted from the 540-horsepower Porsche 911 Turbo is more than ample, should you be brave enough to push it hard. Renowned German tuning company Gemballa wholeheartedly disagrees, however. Called the 'Avalanche' in a nod to the 1984 original 395-hp Porsche 930 Turbo bearing the same name, Gemballa's take on the 911 Turbo produces no less than 809 horsepower and more torque than you'll ever need at 709 lb-ft. Those are some scary statistics.

"The Gemballa Avalanche is an indefinable creation of engine sounds, power and acceleration to blast you across the horizon," the tuning company explains, though it hasn't disclosed any other performance figures such as its 0-60 mph time or top speed. No doubt we'll find out at Geneva next month, where the Avalanche will be first shown. For reference, a standard Porsche 911 Turbo will hit 0-60 mph in around three seconds. Such earth-shattering power is married to aggressive, and decidedly purple, styling, as the Avalanche has been fitted with a new hood complete with a bulging hood scoop, which doesn't make much sense in a rear-engine car, but nevermind.

It's also been fitted with a new custom front bumper, wheels, exhaust systen and a comically large rear wing for added downforce, as shown in the initial renders. It may not be very elegant, but it means business. Essentially, it's a Porsche 911 Turbo on some very strong steroids. We admire its insanity, but we're not sure if we would be brave enough to tame it. The Avalanche will also be joined by what we presume is another power-crazed monster called the Gemballa GTR 780 EVO-R, which we've yet to see. Both cars will apparently "set new standards in performance and style," and "break some records." Call us intrigued - roll on Geneva.
