Mercedes 300SL is as Cool as its Owner

Classic Cars / Comments

The importance of enjoying your toys - no matter how old you are.

The Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, widely considered to be the world's first supercar, was an instant classic when it first launched way back in 1954. There are many still in existence today, but we've never see one quite like this. Owned and customized by a guy named Bog Sirna, he wanted to do something special and unique to Mercedes's hot rod: he turned one into an even hotter hot rod. And what better way to show off its performance by taking it to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Although 1,400 300SLs were made, very few people today actually drive them. But not this guy, who's got a case of "salt fever." Some people think he's driving a plastic replica while others think he's just plain nuts for racing such a rare car. Sirna believes it's a car that's designed to be used.
