Mercedes is charging an $8,000 for the lavish A-Class Sedan Edition 1.
Mercedes usually marks new model launches with a lavish "Edition 1" variant available for the first 12 months, and the new A-Class sedan will be no exception. Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog has posted the first photos of the 2019 Mercedes A-Class Edition 1, which commands a hefty €7,021 ($8,115) premium in Germany. But what sets it apart? Copper. Lots and lots of copper.
Copper accents have been applied to the 19-inch alloy wheels as well as on the pins of the diamond front grille. The copper theme continues inside where the top of the dashboard, central dashboard and seats feature copper stitching. Even the door panels have copper seams, while the velour floor mats come with copper piping.
The Edition 1 is based on the AMG Line version and comes with "Edition" badging on the front fenders to help further distinguish it from standard models. In addition to the various visual tweaks, the A-Class Sedan Edition 1 is also generously equipped to justify the asking price. As standard, it comes with LED High Performance headlights, 64-color LED ambient lighting, multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel, and sports seats with adjustable head restraints. Mercedes hasn't said if the A-Class Sedan Edition 1 will be sold in North America, however.
In the US, the A-Class Sedan will go on sale in early 2019. Whether you opt for the A220 or A220 4Matic, Mercedes' new entry-level sedan is powered by an inline-four turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that sends 188 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque through a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.
