Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled the GLE-Class Coupe in order to cross-swords with the BMW X6 in the luxury crossover coupe arena, and is using the 2015 Detroit Motor Show to reveal its answer to the X6 M. This is the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe 4Matic. Power comes from the carmaker's 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 (not the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the C63 AMG some had been expecting), delivering 577 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. That's 10 hp and 8 lb-ft more than the X6 M.

All that power is sent to all four wheels (with a 40:60 front:rear split) via AMG's Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic seven-speed auto, helping it sprint to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Beefy high-performance brakes, AMG Ride Control sports suspension, Active Curve System and Sports Direct-Steer steering system help keep that performance in check. An aggressive front end sports AMG's A-wing grille – the first CUV to receive this honor – as well as LED headlights. Black wheel arch flares, a small tailgate mounted lip spoiler, and a new rear apron with integrated quad tailpipes and central diffuser ,are other design differentials, while the GLE63 sits on 22-inch rims finished in titanium gray.

Interior upgrades include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, nappa leather sport seats, a modified instrument cluster with faux carbon dials, a leather dash, carbon-fiber trim and a Harman Kardon sound system. Check back for live shots from the show later today.
