AMG GLS 63

Fast SUVs are nothing new to the car scene. Performance models such as the Lamborghini Urus and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trakhawk have made it crystal clear that large daily-movers can hustle, and in fact, will leave most cars without the title of supercar in the dust. But none quite match the levels of insanity offered by this Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. Tuned by Wheelsandmore, the same guys who brought us the 700-horsepower Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, this GLS 63 puts down 920 hp, and is ready to take the kids to school, and then humiliate your Hellcat at the drag strip.

The GLS 63 is one of the most luxurious SUVs on offer and is no slow poke, but Wheelsandmore has just made this German bullet even more impressive. The company offers the car with four different stages of tune. At stage one, the 603 hp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is pushed up to around 700 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque thanks to a simple ECU tune. Stage two adds a set of free-flowing downpipes that awaken the larger turbochargers. This is good for 800 hp and 767 lb-ft, allowing this German school bus to reach 200 mph at full tilt.

Stage three includes further improved turbochargers, stronger wastegate, and a peak power output of up to 860 hp and 848 lb-ft. Finally, stage four brings the biggest set of turbos, high-pressure fuel pumps, and new software to the table. The end result is a blinding 920 hp and 848 lb-ft of torque. According to Wheelsandmore, this is the most power it can squeeze before having to open the engine up for reinforcement. This type of power does not come cheap: the stage one package starts at €2,577 ($3,133), but the stage four package demands a steep €43,102 ($52,402).
