Mercedes AMG-GT Goes All Out at Bonneville

Get ready for the official debut of a possible 911-beater.

In just a couple more days, Mercedes-Benz will officially unveil the AMG-GT, the direct successor to the SLS AMG. Smaller, lighter, and more powerful than its gullwing predecessor, the AMG-GT could turn out to be the Porsche 911’s biggest threat in years. Power will come from a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing around 510 horsepower. 0-62 mph will supposedly happen in just 3.8 seconds and top speed a little under 200 mph. We’ll be receiving official specs shortly, but Mercedes has already begun to build the hype.

Check out this new video showcasing the AMG-GT prototype, driven by Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers on his final test drive, at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. His fist pump and laughter at the end says it all.
