This is the moment millions have been waiting for, one that has the potential to rewrite the course of history provided that an upset occurs. That's because for as long as many of us can remember, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has ruled the race track like a star athlete with no end to its trophy shelf. Contenders from every side of the globe have tried to steal its crown to no avail and, as Chris Harris puts it, no matter now good the competition is, they only seem to end up highlighting how good the Porsche is.

However, for the first time in years, there's a solid contender from within Germany's borders. It might not quite know how Porsche ticks, but it's probably closer to that state of enlightenment than any other automaker.

Mercedes-AMG, fresh off a hot streak, decided to release the AMG GT R to take on the Porsche. It takes a truly seasoned veteran like Chris Harris to get to the bottom of the story, and he manages to do so while throwing in a BMW M4 GTS into the ring too just for good measure. Harris is notoriously not a fan of the GTS, and that opinion remains steadfast in his review, but the GT R and GT3 RS are the two rivals we really came to see, and both refuse to disappoint.
