When you've got plenty of cash to spare and are tired of seeing too many BMW M cars on the road, Mercedes-AMG is the perfect solution. And according to the German automaker, a record number of people had this mindset in 2013. AMG is now proudly reporting that it's just had its "strongest year ever." In total, AMG exceeded expectations in both the German and UK markets, even though the EU market was originally considered to be somewhat weak.

In the US, AMG sales grew by 20 percent, mainly due to the release of new models at both the low and high ends of the pricing scale. Specifically, the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system was introduced to popular AMG-enhanced models like the CLS, E-Class, S-Class, A-Class and CLA. "This extraordinary growth has exceeded our own expectations," stated AMG Chairman Tobias Moers. Along with those aforementioned models, the new GLA 45 AMG will soon go on sale, and in the near future we can also expect to see an AMG version of the upcoming S-Class coupe. But what we're really waiting for is the replacement for the SLS AMG. Slated to be called the AMG GT, this Porsche 911-fighter is due to debut this July.
