No, this is not a late April Fools joke.
It's not uncommon for car manufacturers to sell smaller toy versions of current models, allowing kids to enjoy driving before they're old enough to be allowed on the road. Bugatti built the Baby II inspired by the Type 35, for instance, and Aston Martin just recently unveiled the handsome DB5 Junior.
That's all well and good, but what about children too young to take the wheel of a toy car? Mercedes-Benz has that covered. The premium German auto brand doesn't just sell luxury cars - it also designs baby strollers as part of a collaboration with Hartan.
And now, they've made an AMG sports model. No, this isn't a late April Fools joke.
Based on the Avantgarde series, the new AMG-branded stroller is has been completely redeveloped and is available in two designs. Developed by Hartan and the Mercedes-Benz Design team, the new AMG model stroller is upgraded with larger wheels and a new suspension system, making it ideal for venturing off the beaten path or taking Vettel to the cleaners on race day.
As standard, the super sports stroller features a parking brake, height-adjustable push handle, a central arresting system, and a five-point safety belt with shoulder pads. Measuring 27.2 x 23 x 8.2 inches when folded, the compact stroller can fit in the back of a Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. The seat is also reversible, allowing the child's position to be changed to either face the world or their parents, and it can be reclined.
Best of all, though, the stroller has a handful of design cues inspired by Mercedes-AMG models. The design of the rims, for example, match the original AMG cross-spoke rims, while the seat covers also match the covers found in AMG models.
Two colors are available: black and graphite, with the latter featuring green stripes on the roof and the green seams inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT4 racing car.
Available accessories include a folding carrying cot with a Softline climatic mattress, extended lying surface, floor ventilation and an adjustable carrying handle, and an AMG-branded backpack. In addition to the new AMG model range, the standard Avantgarde baby stroller has been updated with a color-trimmed chassis with a Mercedes-Benz pattern, a magnetically closable seatbelt system, a double fold-out sun visor, and new colors. Pricing details haven't been announced, but if you ever see someone pushing an AMG stroller, be sure to get the baby's autograph before they grow into the next Lewis Hamilton.
