Ever since the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class made its debut last year, we've been keeping a close eye on the AMG derivatives, and it seems like we're finally approaching the official debut date of the Mercedes-AMG C43 and C53.

AMG turns 55 this year and is celebrating the fact with a slew of exciting new models, including two new performance-focused C-Class warriors. We've been covering the progress on these new four-cylinder beasts for a good while, and now Mercedes-AMG has told the world to get ready for some AMG action, and we're stoked.

The tweet simply states "Here's to a new AMG: try not to blink when making eye contact. More is coming soon. Stay tuned!"

The 19-second clip shows off the front end of the new Mercedes-AMG C-Class in a haze of smoke and neon lights, and if we're being honest, there's not much to see. Mercedes-AMG only gives us a peek of the front end, but it's easy to make out the Panamericana-style grille and more aggressive front air intakes. From what we've seen in spy pics, the new AMG C-Class cars will feature more aggressive exterior styling bits and pieces such as flared side sills, big AMG alloy wheels, and a set of big and burly exhaust exits (naturally).

The tweet might have stirred up some excitement for the new car's looks, but everyone will be more interested to find out how the new four-cylinder powerplant will perform. The new four-pot will replace the smooth and sweet-sounding twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, but as we've seen and heard, the new engine doesn't sound half bad, and promises to deliver a ton of performance from a compact and lightweight package. The M139 turbo-four is currently used in cars such as the new Mercedes-AMG SL43 where it produces 375 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, and it also powers the upcoming AMG C63 S E Performance. We know that AMG-fettled four-cylinder turbo engines can produce over 400 hp, so we're not too worried about the new C43 and C53's performance potential, we just want to test them already!
