Mercedes-Benz is commemorating 60 years passing since the launch of the W221 Grand Edition by announcing a brand new 2012 S-Class model that bears the same name. Developed by AMG Performance Studio, the new W221 is equipped with a new body kit, including a new aerodynamics package, new front spoiler, lower air intake, new side skirts and rear apron, a re-styled rear bumper and even integrated LED daytime running lights.

The interior also gets some nice updates. A leather steering wheel and stainless-steel pedals are the highlights. This all sits on the light-alloy AMG 19" five-spoke performance wheels. 350 mm brake discs with 8-piston front calipers and rear 6-piston calipers keep the S-Class's diesel 201hp S250 CDI and 255hp S350 BlueTEC motors in check. Two gasoline engines are also available, the 302hp S350 BlueEFFIENCY and the powerful 429hp S500. No pricing or availability information has been released as of yet.
