The facelifted 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA has been teased ahead of its reveal tomorrow, and although the shadowy image is very good at hiding details, we've spotted a few things. Like the refreshed A-Class and B-Class launched in Europe last year, the changes are minor, but we can make out some of them.

For one thing, while the shape of the taillights appears to be roughly the same as that of the current model, they seem far more sensual now, with a more curvaceous accent line and smoother detailing. Brighten the image, and the license plate reveals its final character, an 'E' that denotes this is the plug-in hybrid version.

The fact that Mercedes specifically mentions the design of the updated CLA and nothing else lends further credibility to the theory that the changes here will be no more than skin deep. However, we expect a new front bumper and changes to the wheel offerings.

Under the hood, the 2024 CLA is likely to be offered with mild-hybrid gas engines only, and even the sporty CLA 35 (which will likely debut later alongside the CLA 45) is expected to get electrification for the new model year. That means the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot (the only option currently sold in the USA, which currently produces 221 horsepower) will be boosted by adding a 13-hp mild hybrid system.

With Mercedes opting against pure combustion for many of its new models, the CLA 45 is likely to get a little quicker too, but we'll probably have to wait a little while before AMG takes the wraps off that.

Unfortunately, the CLA sedan is not necessarily confirmed for our shores, as the teaser has yet to appear on the automaker's American channels. Moreover, the A-Class sedan, which fit in below the CLA, was axed a while back, and the brand is continuing to focus its efforts on big moneymakers rather than niche fillers, which could mean the end of the road for the CLA on our shores.
