Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Is Almost Ready For A Full Reveal

Spy Shots / Comments

We get to see a few more details for the first time.

Way back in July, we got our first look at the new Mercedes-Benz GLC, and there was a lot of camouflage hiding the new design. Over the following months, we got shots of the AMG versions too, and in December, we finally got a view of the interior. It seems that this luxury SUV is going to tick the boxes of style, technology, and comfort with aplomb, but it's still too soon to tell exactly what the exact design updates will be. We recently got a glimpse of the new SUV with no camouflage, but this only afforded us a view of the profile. Luckily, we now have new shots that actually reveal some details.

This particular prototype is wearing a branded camo wrap covered in three-pointed stars, making it one of the prettier camouflaged cars we've come across and suggesting a full reveal is all but imminent. But that's of little consequence. What does matter is that, although outlines in the wrap suggest that the lower grille will only be getting minor changes (most obviously a new mesh design), the main grille where the badge resides is redesigned and appears to be more rounded in shape, taking after the new C-Class. We also see that the headlight graphics seem to be changing, with new accents below the "eyebrow" DRL and a more rounded overall shape for the entire cluster.

At the rear, the taillight graphics are changing too, but that appears to be the extent of the aesthetic upgrades. Of course, we'll be able to glean more once less camouflage is seen, but for now, it seems that Mercedes is simply refining the existing design rather than reinventing the design language entirely. The C-Class will serve as a strong influence here, particularly in the lighting designs. Most buyers will be most interested in the updated infotainment setup, which will not have a portrait orientation, but we have no doubt that Mercedes will add value to the refreshed model in other ways too.

Expect the engine lineup to mimic the four-cylinder hybrid options of the current C-Class range.

We expect to see the new look of the Mercedes-Benz GLC unveiled within the next few months given the minimal camo it's wearing now.
