If you're looking for a performance Mercedes that's less imposing than the hardcore Black series, the 43 range has you covered. Offering more power than standard Mercedes-Benz vehicles, but sitting below the high-performance AMG 45, 63 and 65 versions, the mid-range 43 series is to Mercedes what the M series is to BMW. J oining the line-up is the Mercedes-AMG GLE43 SUV, the ninth model in the AMG 43 performance line as a replacement for the GLE400.

As with the existing AMG 43 range (bar some exceptions), the GLE43 SUV is equipped with a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission operated with paddle shifters, as well as 4Matic all-wheel drive. Optional sport seats and unique trims are also available. Mercedes is pitching the GLE43 SUV as a "luxurious and practical family vehicle," with all the staple luxury and in-car entertainment you would expect to find in a Mercedes, including heated seats and steering wheel, a power sunroof and Mercedes' COMAND entertainment system.

An intuitive touchpad, high-res 8-inch screen and a sound system all come as standard, as do the Attention Assist and Pre-Safe safety stems – the latter can sense an impending collision and take protective measures accordingly before impact by tightening seat belts, raising side windows and closing the sunroof. You can also opt for the optional Premium 3 Package which adds a number of driver-assists including Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Protection. The breadth of Mercedes AMG vehicles flooding the market is starting to get insane – right now, you have a choice of no less than 34 AMGs, including nine new AMG 43 models.

Along with the new GLE43 SUV, the AMG 43 range will continue to expand this year with the E43 sedan, GLE43 Coupe, and GLC43 Coupe due to join the line-up in the coming months. Whether you're in the market for a luxury Mercedes coupe, convertible, roadster, sedan, or crossover, it's difficult to think of a manufacturer that has as much choice as Mercedes-AMG right now.
