Our favorite crash test dummies are back for more.
Mercedes-Benz, the creator of magnificent machines such as the AMG GT and humble C-Class has returned with a new episode of what should soon be a critically acclaimed YouTube series. Yes, Crash Tales episode 2 is here and we are so happy to be reunited with our friends Fred and Tommy, the dynamic crash test dummy duo who won us over with their lighthearted shenanigans in the first episode where they tested the braking system on a Mercedes-Benz EQC.
In the first episode, we were introduced to the charming Tommy and earnest Fred, both crash test dummies under the employment of Mercedes-Benz, where they get to enjoy being smashed into brick walls and test heated seats for a living.
The second episode starts off with a stern warning to Tommy and Fred not to break anything. Fred quips "We'd be lucky if we get a scratch." Fred then continues to complain about how Mercedes-Benz cars are getting too safe, basically implying that Merc cars are ruining his career as a crash test dummy. "It's our job to make cars safe Fred," says Tommy. "If you want a thrill, get transferred to the motorcycle department" he continues, as the SUV they are seated in sprints forward.
The car subsequently smashes into the wall, much to the enjoyment of the viewer. After the airbags settle, Fred jumps in: "I said I was bored, I didn't say I was having a midlife crisis."
It is clear from the video that poor Fred is getting sick and tired of testing car after car that keeps him perfectly intact and totally safe. And, as in the first episode, he yearns for a more action-packed life, whereas happy-go-lucky Tommy enjoys the comforts of his job. We are starting to grow fond of these characters, and look forward to their next adventure. Who knows, next time one of them might get married or solve the global financial crisis.
