It's back. The return of the Gullwing. Mercedes-Benz launched the original Gullwing back in 1954. At the time, it was the most advanced production car in the world. It was cool then and even cooler today. Now that it's been revived, let's get right down to some details. This latest supercar has a 6.2 liter V8 producing 563 hp. It was taken from the SL63 AMG, but significantly modified with more than 120 redesigned parts. Top speed is a reported 198 mph.

It's mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and features a launch control setting. All told, it'll go from zero to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds. It's interesting how Mercedes engineers were able to get so much performance and grip out of the car considering it has a front/mid-engine layout and that long hood. Usually mid-engine cars, such as the Audi R8, that conquer in the road grip department, but the new Gullwing once again shows that it's a truly advanced machine.
