Covered in a matte finish, the ‘Matt’ special editions will be available only in Japan.
Mercedes is working hard to shift some of its high-performance vehicles by introducing special edition models for the JDM, and hot on the heels of the C63 AMG special edition comes these Matt Special Editions for the current SLS AMG. In the next few months the new and renamed 2013 SLS AMG GT series will begin to hit showrooms around the world, so Mercedes is trying to shift as many of the current models as possible and hope the new (misspelled) Matt special editions will entice Japanese buyers.
There are three special editions to choose from, starting with a Matt Black roadster which gets a design Magno Night Black exterior with a black soft top and red accents on the grille, fuel-filler cap, '6.3' badging and wheels. A two-tone red & black interior boasts leather upholstery, a sport steering wheel and special floor mats. Production is limited to five units and priced at 30,000,000 Yen (around $377,000). Next up is the SLS AMG Matt White roadster that comes with a designo Magno Cashmere White exterior with contrasting black accents.
Inside, a porcelain & black leather upholstery is complemented by special floor mats and an AMG steering wheel. Again, production is limited to five units and priced at 30,000,000 Yen. Completing the trio is the Matte White coupe, which is identical to the roadster but priced at 29,000,000 Yen (around $364,000) and limited to ten units.
