Mercedes-Benz and Porsche haven't been in direct competition much over the years. The two Stuttgart-based companies have traditionally just made different sorts of cars. But with Porsche moving into sedans and SUVs, and Mercedes making outright sports cars, a new rivalry seems to be brewing. This takes its most obvious form in a new promo from Mercedes for the AMG GT, in which a child dreaming of a 911 sees it passed on the track by the new Benz.

It's quite a heavy-handed metaphor, but subtlety isn't exactly something the advertising industry is known for.
