Mercedes-Benz to Build CLS Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it's planning to build the CLS Shooting Brake beginning for the 2012 model year. It was originally shown earlier this year at the Beijing Motor Show, previewing the upcoming newly redesigned CLS Sedan. It shares the sedan's styling characteristics as well as powertrains. That means we'll be seeing a CLS63 AMG wagon version, which is set to debut in sedan form at the LA Auto Show next week, in the near future as well.

The latest styling may be controversial and unattractive to some, it's truly a dynamic departure from Mercedes' otherwise conservative styling. When taking this design theme into wagon form, dare I say, makes the station wagon look good once again. Will it come to US shores? We predict it will due to an increasing demand and with Cadillac's CTS Wagon currently on sale, the battle of the luxury station wagon looks about ready to begin. Certainly a far cry from the Griswold family wagon. Photos displayed are of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept
