Mercedes-Benz Vito E-Cell Van Hits the Streets of Spain

Electric Car

Another premiere is being celebrated by the Mercedes-Benz Vito E-Cell. This time is the zero emission van has hit the streets of Spain. This is the first van with an electromotive drive system to be produced by a car manufacturer. The all-electric vehicles have been handed over to the customers during a special ceremony held at the Mercedes-Benz production location for the Vita E-Cell in Vitoria.

The E-Cell has already enjoyed considerable success in the cities of Berlin and Stuttgart, and now the Vito E-Cell is set to prove its suitability for everyday applications in Spain. The vehicle itself is not an experimental vehicle; rather it is a full-function van for day-to-day applications. The E-Cell's electric motor has an output of 60kW and has a range of 130 kilometers (80 miles), meeting the average customer requirement for vans which typically lies around 50 to 80 km per day.
